New graphene is proposed for high-performance sodium batteries will affect the price of graphite material

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have proposed that a new type of graphene could be used as a special effect material for the production of high-performance electrodes for sodium batteries.

In an article published in the journal Science Advances, the scientists explain that the modified graphene can not only store sodium ions, but also increase the battery's capacity, making it comparable to today's lithium-ion batteries. In this paper, the research team shows that, unlike lithium, sodium is very abundant and cheap, and exists in seawater and table salt. While such abundant resources make sodium-ion batteries an interesting and sustainable alternative, they face several challenges when it comes to energy storage capacity.
